Rockport is the southernmost town of Wood County, West Virginia. The unincorporated community is about a 22-mile drive south of Parkersburg, with Interstate 77 being the fastest route. The region is mostly undeveloped, comprising of vast forested hillsides that extend for miles in all directions. Various country roads wind through these hills leading into the many private homesteads throughout the community. Most residences are spread quite far between each other so you can enjoy a lot of privacy that you won’t get in the city. Houses come in a variety of designs in the area, but cottage-style, cabin-style, and ranch-style homes are quite plentiful in the area. Although quite vast supply is quite limited in the area as most properties are owner-occupied and rarely go on sale. What's To Love

If you enjoy the outdoors, you won't run out of opportunities to go on hikes and the vast nature preserves of southern Wood County. Properties in the area are primarily large multi-acre lots, which is a stark contrast from the typical suburban home you can purchase in the city.

What's Not To Love

Rockport's main downside is its distance from the closest city center, which would be Parkersburg. If you're moving here with your children, the closest school available to them would be Mineral Wells Elementary School, which would still be a bit of a drive away. Although there are some amenities within the Rockport Community Building, most big-city attractions available to families in the area are also a bit of a drive away.

Is it for me?
